Shirley's dad visits the Partridge Family at one o'clock in the morning and surprises them with the announcement that he and Grandma have split up. Grandpa plans to stay the night before leaving for Big Sur, but he is also surprised when Grandma arrives on the scene. It's a youth versus old age confrontation between them.
