Bill can't wait to move out of home and Anne is equally enthusiastic, until Phil presents her with a realistic budget and Ruth offers some sound advice. Anne tells Bill she wants to rent out the house, and Bill blames her meddling family. Lou and Harold are competing fiercely in the poetry competition, but Joel surprises all, and wins. Peter shows up on Sarah's doorstep, wanting to spend some time alone. Sarah forgoes her study but the pair have difficulty deciding what to do.
